These are some of the spectrolite gems we have available for custom jewelry design. Don't see what you're looking for? Write to Jessica at dow_jessica@yahoo.com.. we have plenty more. Spectrolite and labradorite, both varieties of the Feldspar mineral, are semi-precious gemstones with an iridescent play of color called labradorescence. Common medium grade gray to black labradorite and spectrolite show an iridescent play of blue, green and golden yellow. The color in labradorite and spectrolite are due to light interference by thin lamellae (parallel layers) within the stone. Spectrolite is the rarest and most valuable variety of feldspar. It is only found in south-eastern Finland in a condense area and in very tiny pockets scattered around Finland. The most valuable and rarest spectrolite displays an amazing combination of shades of red, magenta, pink, purple, violet, bright teal blue, green, yellow and orange.... virtually the entire color spectrum. You can see a variety of our spectrolite jewelry and loose spectrolite gemstones in Renee Newman's book Exotic Gemstones Vol 1. **** Want to learn more about this amazing material??
